BEACHES
Local beaches include Charlestown Beach, Blue Shutters Beach, East Beach,
as well as, Green Hill Beach, Matunuck Town Beach and East Matunuck State Beach in
neighboring South Kingstown. These beaches stretch across miles of pristine Rhode Island coastline and offer the best sunning and surfing on the southeastern coast. Other favorite beaches include Watchaug Pond in
Burlingame State Park
and Misquamicut State Beach in Westerly.
PARKS & CAMPING
Ninigret Park is a major recreation area, offering 4 public tennis courts and the 'Little Nini" Beach area. The park also is home of The Frosty Drew
Observatory, and Nature Center. This Park also serves as the host for the Ocean State Reggae Festival, the Annual Seafood Festival, the Rhythm and Roots Festival, and the Big Apple Circus. In addition, Burlingame Campground offers
750 camp sites,located
at Watchaug Pond.
SHOPPING & RECREATION
For the visitor or resident, art galleries, gift and craft shops, gourmet food and antiques abound. There are also many more shopping centers in neighboring South Kingstown and Westerly. In addition, three playing fields, basketball, tennis courts, and a school playground offer a variety of activities for visitors. The recreation commission sponsors bicycle and boating safety programs, baseball and basketball programs and an art show.

FISHING & BOATING
Among the areas best places to surfcast are Charlestown Breachway, Quonochontaug Breachway and Jerusalem Breakwall. Several local
ponds are alsofavorite angling spots.
Public boat launching ramps, marinas,and private launching facilities are available, as well as a number of knowledegable local fishing charter boats for hire.

Options for exploring Rhode Island's long and fascinating history include Narragansett Indian Burial Grounds,
Fort Ninigret Park
, Kenyon Grist Mill and the South County Museum.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN
Rural and urban all at the same time, this is Rhode Island's largest town. South Kingstown offers beautiful beaches, great fishing, and plenty of shopping! Formerly a wealthy farming community, today Narragansett is a favorite summer resort, with it's ocean-oriented recreation. Noteworthy are the fishing villages of Galilee and Jerusalem, as well as Narragansett's gorgeous

WESTERLY
On the Rhode Island-
Connecticut border, Westerly is known best for Misquamicut
State Beach
and its amusement park, six miles of sandy beaches and exclusive
Watch Hill, with its specialty shops and beautiful summer

NEWPORT
One of the most famous destinations in the United States, Newport is within an hour's drive from Charlestown. Some of the most well known attractions include the Cliffwalk, Bowens Wharf and the Thames Street Walk. Touring gorgeous mansions, such as The Breakers and Rosecliff, is also a great way to spend the day. Please visit Newport's Visitor Center for more information.
PROVIDENCE
Providence has undergone a recent renaissance, and offers all of what you would expect in a major city. The Providence Place Mall and Water Fire are just a couple of destinations that make Providence fun. Home to major universities including Brown, the city has something for everyone. BLOCK ISLAND
You can see Block Island from the Charlestown coast, and arrive there on the Block Island Ferry that leaves from Galilee. Once there,
